1866 Chastelard - A Tragedy by Algernon Charles Swinburne, Antique Leather Bound Book, Decorative Leather Book

"Chastelard - A Tragedy" by Algernon Charles Swinburne. Published by Hurd and Houghton, New York: 1866. It is bound in quarter leather over bright yellow marbled boards. Raised bands separate the spine into six sections, with the title and author names stamped in gold gilt in section two (from the top). As noted by the bookplate on the front pastedown, it was originally owned by the Library Company of Philadelphia, the first membership-based library in the United States founded by Benjamin Franklin. It was sold as a duplicate several decades ago. In addition to the bookplate, there is a small paper pastedown on the front cover at the top corner.
