You're bidding on a true piece of US military history! This WWII USS Yorktown Navy Sailor Pearl Harbor Survivor Photo Letter Flag & Mom Silk Pillowcase from Hawaii. You receive: Dated December 1940 letter sent home upon arrival in Pearl Harbor on the USS Yorktown (later sunk in the battle of Midway). The letter details the sailor (who survived) discussing being stationed at Pearl Harbor for the next 2 years from 1941-1943. He talks about his duties, hanging out, chasing girls, drinking, hula girls and Navy life. It is a very different outlook when you think about what was to happen within 12-months of his arrival. The letter is on the back of Christmas hula girl linen card dated December 1940. It says, "Mele Kalikimaka" or Merry Christmas on the front with a photo of a hula girl. Original photo of the sailor with a Hula girl. A 48-Star US handheld parade flag obtained at a Christmas parade in Honolulu in 1940. Silk pillowcase the sailor sent home to his mom. It measures 17"
