Author: Harold Lamb, 1940, Illustrated with Maps, First Edition, Dustjacket, The Literary Guild of America, Inc., New York
Decorative front dustjacket is beautifully illustrated to set the tone of the book. The rear of the dustjacket has an author photo and bio. The jacket is uniformly clipped and has numerous tears and chips to the front cover but is protected in a Mylar cover. The pale tan spine and boards are in near perfect condition with a barbarian on a rearing horse in green and black on the front cover, with title and decorations also in black and green to the spine. The corners are near perfect with sharp points and no bumping. Spine is straight and firm, with no cracking to the endpapers. The front endpaper is a map of the “Steppes of Asia at the beginning of Christian Era” and the rear endpaper is a map of the “Mongol Empire – 1275 A.D”. Text block is solid with green along the top edge and deckled pages to front of block. Illustrated with maps. Interior pages excellent
