"This is an old-fashioned plant that has been known and loved for years. It is a wonderful addition to any garden. The drought-tolerant red ""poker"" of a flower loves the sun. It does not require a lot of care, once the roots are established, it almost thrives on neglect.
Pineapple Popsicle’ is a hybrid kniphofia that produces ornamentally impressive cream to pineapple-yellow flowers in 7” long racemes (to 100 densely packed flowers per raceme) atop 26” tall flower scapes rising above a 14” tall basal clump of strap-shaped, medium green leaves. Flower spikes bloom, in succession, over a long, late spring to early fall bloom period.
They do well with well-drained soil. Mulch protects the crown in harsh winters. Water regularly during the first growing season to help the roots establish. Once established, reduce watering frequency. In containers, water regularly when the soil surface becomes dry. Feed with a slow-release fertilizer. Prune spent flowers to promote continued bloom.
