Vintage Korean Jewelry Box OX HORN Reverse Painted RARE Beautiful

This gorgeous wooden jewelry box is likely from the 1950s or 1960s. The finishing is made of thinly sliced and polished ox horn, which has the designs hand-painted on the reverse before assembly. The corners are reinforced with a bronze-colored metal.

The inside and outside bottom are lined with red velvet; it still has the divided inner tray and protective metal feet on the bottom. It also includes the original good luck fish-shaped lock and key!

It does show some mild, age-appropriate wear with mild scuffing and very fine cracks between some of the panels. Small portions of the artwork are hidden by the natural and partial opacity of the ox horn. It’s in good shape overall but please look over the photos carefully; I made sure to show every angle.

It measures about 5.5” wide, 3.5” high, and 4“ deep.
