Antique Leather Cased Silver Roses Sewing Set * French *Circa 1900

This cute little antique French sewing kit comes in a leather case lined with silk and velvet. Inside is a pair of silver-handled embroidery scissors and a silver thimble. They are a set and are all embossed with roses. They all also have the French boar's head hallmark used to indicate sterling silver (800 fine) made in Paris. One of them has the maker's mark of Charles Murat. He was a silversmith in Paris since 1897. The scissors are 3 3/4 inches long. The steel blades are taut with sharp tips and they cut like new, right to the tip. The blades are marked "Nogent" which is the town in France where they were made. This is a famous region for cutlery and the makers have passed strict quality requirements. The tall thimble is in excellent condition, crisp and round, no holes, dents or other damage and gold plated inside. All tools are in excellent condition.
