Manning, Bowman & Company, established in 1832 and operating out of Meriden, Connecticut, from 1849 to 1945, was one of this country's leading makers of enamel (granite ware) and metal household objects--their designs are included in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, The Dallas Museum, and The Brooklyn Museum, among others, and they exhibited at international design expositions throughout the 19th century.

Made in the 1880s, this extraordinarily preserved coffee pot features an enamel body with a hand-painted floral bouquet front and back within a handsomely stylized pewter armature. The water-tight pot stands 11” tall, holds 64 fluid ounces and is in remarkable condition, with no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines The enamel has a few scratches to it under the handle area shown in picture 10 Also a few slight stains inside the pot near top shown in picture 11 The pewter has been deliberately left unpolished; polished, shows some tarnish. One ding to the top of the lid shown in 12
