Vintage Sterling Silver Collector Plate

Vintage 1973 Limited Edition Danbury Mint CENTRAL PARK WINTER-THE SKATING POND. Handcrafted by Reed & Barton the solid sterling silver plate depicts a lively scene of ice skaters enjoying themselves on the frozen pond in Central Park during winter. From a Currier & Ives lithograph the plate captures a popular pastime and a significant landmark in New York City during the nineteenth century showcasing the park as a recreational hub. Currier and Ives (1835-1907) was a prominent American printmaking firm depicting various aspects of American life, landscapes, and historical events. The 8" diameter plate # 2061 and weighing approximately .75 pounds has been individually etched and inlaid with 24 Karat gold and burnished copper inlays. The back of the plate reads THE DANBURY MINT LIMITED EDITION OF 7500 HANDCRAFTED BY REED & BARTON IN ITS EXCLUSIVE DAMESCENE PROCESS. Slight tarnish consistent with wear.
