Vintage Original by Robert Double Oval Brooch Pin – Gold, Pearls & Rhinestones

“In 1942 Robert Levy, David Jaffe and Irving Landman founded the Fashioncraft Jewelry Company. Trading as Robert for some time, they officially changed the name to Robert Originals in 1960.

Robert is perhaps best known for its Haskell-inspired pieces.

Robert designs have natural and floral motifs with faux pearls, crystal beads, and high quality imported rhinestones set on gilded filigree open wire and openwork mountings.

The company’s advertisement in the 1940s indicated the jewelry was handcrafted with fine details that possibly expert jewelers could mistake the stones for genuine precious jewels. Because of its excellent design, workmanship and materials, the jewelry sold at a high price.

Most pieces are signed; “Original by Robert” was used from 1942 to 1979.”
