1879 Monteith’s Easy Lessons in Popular Science by James Monteith, antique book

“Easy Lessons in Popular Science; and Hand-Book to Pictorial Chart: Combining the Conversational, Catechetical, Blackboard and Object Plans, with Maps, Illustrations, and Lessons in Drawing, Spelling, and Composition” by James Monteith. Published by A. S. Barnes & Company, New York, Chicago, and New Orleans; 1897. It appears to be a First Edition book.

This is an Antique Science Textbook for Students and Teachers in School Use from the late 1800’s. It is aged nearly once hundred and forty years old! It is illustrated profusely with pictures, diagrams, charts, maps, and more! The plentiful illustrations are scattered throughout the text, with at least one illustration for every page. The illustrations are present in both black and white, as well as a few that are in full-color.

This is an excellent way to get a feel for what was being taught in schools at the turn of the century, over 140 years ago!
